About Global Health Action

We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit international health and development organization headquartered in Metro Atlanta. Our mission is to improve the health of people and communities around the globe through education, training, and practical programs in leadership, management, and health promotion. Since 1972, GHA has trained thousands of health professionals and community leaders from 97 countries.

Our programs and services include regularly scheduled trainings, on-going technical support, and customized courses. Our current initiatives include grassroots health education, leadership training, program design, project management, women's reproductive health, HIV/AIDS, primary health care, and youth empowerment. We have on-the-ground programs and projects in Haiti, China, Africa, and the U.S. At home and internationally, we work with local community organizations, national organizations, government agencies, and international NGOs.

Global Health Action serves as one of Atlanta's vital international and local health links, collaborating and sharing resources with the Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Georgia State University, and others, while helping to present and connect Atlanta to the world.

Philosophy

We believe in the power of communities to identify and address their own health needs and improve their quality of life. We believe that the ability to have a sustainable impact on people's health and well-being must come from within the community and be based on a locally appropriate approach and resources.

Global Health Action serves both as a catalyst to increase the knowledge, skills, and capacity of local leaders and organizations and as a bridge to connect different groups and levels of society within countries and regions.
