Albert
Schweitzer Society Membership
A humanitarian, medical doctor, theologian, missionary,
organist, and a 1952 Nobel Peace Prize winner, Dr. Albert
Schweitzer devoted his life to serving people in remote
parts of the world. Inspired to become a medical missionary
after hearing about the plight of women and children
in West Africa, in 1913, he established a missionary
hospital in French Equatorial Africa (Gabon). The hospital,
which cared for 2,000 patients within its first year,
today cares for thousands of Africans a year and stands
as a lasting symbol of Dr. Schweitzers compassion
and dedication.
By
becoming a member of this distinguished Society, your
investment will help underwrite GHAs average cost
to train one health provider during one year to bridge
the health care gaps in places like Haiti, Africa and
China. |
