Custom-Designed Workshops and Special Programs

Global Health Action is known and recognized for its ability to design and deliver practical, custom-designed trainings and programs based on the needs of a particular organization, community, or country.

Since 1972, GHA has trained thousands of health professionals and community leaders from 97 countries. We have developed and implemented trainings for international agencies, government ministries, non-governmental organizations, community-based groups, and faith-based organizations. Our team of facilitators, with years of field experience, can train both on-site and at our World Headquarters & Training Center in Atlanta.

Global Health Action's training is:

• Flexible - GHA designs and adapts training programs to meet the specific needs of each organization or group. The tailored courses combine an appreciation for local/organizational conditions with practical knowledge and professional, job-related skills. Courses can be of one- to four-week duration and can be presented back to back to allow on-going staff coverage during the program. Languages include English, French, Hindi, Chinese, Russian, and Spanish.

• Wide-ranging - GHA's field-experienced trainers can and have led workshops/courses on a wide variety of organizational development and technical capacity topics, including Organizational Management & Leadership, Financial Management, Project Management, and Monitoring & Evaluation, as well as HIV & AIDS, Reproductive Health & Women's Health, Primary Health Care, and Non-Formal Education.

• Participatory - GHA's courses emphasize practical and experiential learning - small group discussions, role-playing, coaching sessions, simulation practice, case studies, and site visits. Participants learn skills and practice techniques that encourage and equip them to make positive changes in their organizations and within the communities they serve.

• Proven - Over the course of 36 years, Global Health Action has successfully worked with hundreds of agencies, groups, and organizations. For instance, when the National Population and Family Planning Commission of China needed to strengthen the capacity of its top officials to develop more client-oriented family planning and reproductive health services, they contracted with GHA to provide that training. Eight years, 20 courses, and 650 participants later, that relationship is still going strong. Similarly, the Presbyterian Church (USA) contracted with GHA to provide a customized workshop on HIV/AIDS prevention and gender-based violence for church leaders in the DR Congo.

• Cost-Effective - Up to 25 people can participate in a workshop, which is a very cost-effective way for organizations to train multiple staff members at the same time. GHA can design customized courses specifically for senior or mid-level managers, for regional or district leaders, or for participants from a single profession or multiple health professions.
