Organizational Capacity Building and Leadership Training in Africa

Global Health Action works in Africa to develop and strengthen the capacity of leaders, organizations, and communities to meet a wide variety of health, development, and other community needs.

Our training courses address the systemic need for organizational and project management training in topics like strategic planning, effective leadership, public relations, volunteer management, program design, project development, monitoring & evaluation, grant-writing, and financial management.

The training provides participants with the knowledge and tools to become better and more effective leaders of their organizations, increasing the effectiveness of current programs, identifying overlooked needs, and developing new responses to address health and development priorities.

Ultimately, Global Health Action’s courses serve the communities, families, and individuals who benefit directly from these projects: people living with and dying of AIDS, orphans and vulnerable children, rural villagers, slum-dwellers, and other underserved and marginalized people in communities throughout Africa.

Since 2002, GHA has presented two dozen different courses – in both French and English – in Kenya, Ghana, Senegal, Tanzania, and the Democratic Republic of Congo, training more that 350 health professionals, program managers, and community leaders from 30 African countries. Most of these trainings have been based on GHA’s basic Design, Management, and Evaluation (DME) course, which focuses on three key areas: leadership for social change organizations; program planning and project design; and proposal writing and reporting.

GHA is a locally-registered NGO in both Kenya and Cote d’Ivoire (Ivory Coast).
